Twin Pillars of the Boy's Brigade
The twin pillars of the Boy's Brigade are "Discipline" and "Religion". Smith made discilpline and religion the twin pillars of the Boy's Brigade because he was very distressed at the number of ex-members of his Sunday School, sloughing through the streets and ganging in corners.
These twin pillars were chosen also because he wanted to put in obidience to boys in the bb, and their home and every they visit.
Activites for boys were drill, worship, wholesome games, gymnatics, sports and music lessons through the band.
