Object, Motto and Emblem
The Object of the Boy's Brigade created by Sir William Alexander Smith read:
"The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Reverence, Discipline , Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian Manliness."
( The word Obidience was added some ten years later).
So today we have:
"The advancement of Christ's Kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obidience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Cristian Manliness."
The motto of the Boy's Brigade is "Sure and Stedfast" which was taken from the Epistle to the Hebrews, Chapter 6 verse 19.
The emblem is the anchor.
